Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair (2014)
This is a series of twenty one paintings related to the work of Pablo Neruda, “Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair “. In Chile, one is introduced to the Neruda poems before one can even read. Everybody recites a few verses and a child will learn some verses himself. In adolescence the 20 Poems are a necessary map to navigate the tides and currents of youthful emotions. For adults, the poems evoke obscure and sensual connotations. These paintings elicit the moods of the poems and include brief quotations of each one.
